Educational Simulation: Design a Restorative Discipline SystemAnnouncing a new resource for instructors. Test your students' understanding of restorative justice by having them design a restorative discipline system for RJ City's own Howard High School.
This online simulation will take them through four one-hour meetings as
they serve on committees made up of administrators, teachers, parents
and students. Albert Bazemore, Bill McElrea, Ginger Umbreit, Jenny
Walgrave and Mary Pelikan will: 1. agree on a definition of restorative
discipline capable of sustaining a system, 2. identify the most
restorative interventions to use under different circumstances and
conditions, 3. create a flow chart organizing those interventions, and
4. design a simple evaluation survey to assess the "restorativeness" of
particular interventions. For further information, and to log into the
simulation, contact Dan Van Ness (dvanness@pfi.org)
